No personal agenda against Dalmiya, says Pawar

New Delhi, Mar 24 BCCI President Sharad Pawar today made it clear that the charges of misappropriation of funds brought against his predecessor Jagmohan Dalmiya were not because of any personal vendetta.

"Nothing that we do is prompted by a willingness to seek revenge. We do not believe in that kind of approach. We feel there might be differences with others over ethics and ideas, but it should never be made personal," Pawar told reporters.

The BCCI supremo said the guilty would be punished by the law of the land.

"If someone has done something wrong, the law will take its course. We will not interfere," he said.

Earlier in the day, Mumbai Police said Dalmiya was found to have misappropriated over Rs 2.90 crore in the BCCI accounts.

During investigations, the Economic Offences Wing found that Dalmiya diverted funds from a bank account in Kolkata meant for paying legal fees towards various other expenses.

The expenses included paying personal phone bills, purchasing foreign exchange, car rental, hotel bills and stationary, according to the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria. (Agencies)
