Ahmedabad, Oct 19: After witnessing a low turnout for the first two qualifiers of the ICC Champions Trophy event, Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is hoping for a full-house at the Sardar Patel Motera stadium for India-West Indies encounter next week. "We have already sold tickets worth Rs 80 lakh for the three consecutive matches of the Champions Trophy to be played at Motera next week," Narhari Amin, president of GCA said here today.
"Out of this Rs 80 lakh, seventy per cent of the money is from sale of tickets for the India vs West Indies encounter on October 26," said Amin adding that the Motera stadium could accommodate 53,000 spectators on any given day. "There is a huge demand for tickets for this game and we are expecting a full house next week," he added.
The tickets for the India-West Indies match are priced between Rs 150-5,000, while the tickets for the match between South Africa and Sri Lanka (Oct 24) and West Indies and England (Oct 28) are priced between Rs 100-3,000. The GCA president also felt there was a renewed interest in the game featuring West Indies and England after Brian Lara's men stunned hot favourities Australia in a thrilling game in Mumbai yesterday.
