News - SA tour: Indian team selection on Oct 30

Ahmedabad, Oct 26: The Indian team for the forthcoming tour of South Africa will be selected on October 30 at Mohali.

"Selection of Indian team for its South Africa tour will be done at Mohali on October 30," Cricket Board secretary Niranjan Shah told mediapersons here.

He also informed that the new contracts for the players will be decided in a board meeting between November 9 and 11.

"Chairman of selectors (Dilip Vengsarkar), Indian coach (Greg Chappell) and myself have to get together for this. We will first grade the cricketer and then offer contracts," Shah said.

When asked about BCCI contemplating putting up a permanent anti-doping policy for national cricketers, Shah said, "There is no need of that right now".

"At present, we are concentrating on educating and creating awareness regarding doping among the cricketers," Shah said.

"This exercise is going on for the last three months. We have also given them a WADA's (World Anti-Doping Agency) list of banned substances which should not be used by cricketers," Shah added. (Agencies)
