Ahmedabad, Oct 27: Skipper Rahul Dravid has laid the blame for India's three-wicket loss to the West Indies on the host batsmen's failure to get 25-30 runs more on the board and the quick dismissals of Yuvraj Singh and himself in the crucial part of the innings.
"We were in a good position at 130/3. We were in control of the game. However, Yuvraj got out and I also got run out in quick succession. And in the final analysis we fell 25-30 run short," Dravid told mediapersons after the match at the Sardar Patel Gujarat stadium here.
Dravid admitted that the repeated collapse of the middle order was a matter of concern.
"We need to get runs, specially on slow wickets where we need to adapt quickly and deliver," Dravid said.
While refusing to single out any player, Dravid, said "as a batting unit, we could have done a lot better than what we did today".
Asked whether the Indian team would now look for an alternative to opener Virender Sehwag, who has had a string of poor performances recently, he shot back, "at the end of the game I am not here to take questions on selection matters. My views are there and I discuss it in closed door selection meetings".
However, Dravid praised Sehwag's bowling and said, "he bowled really well. And I think he had a bit of utility. (Agencies)
