Mumbai, July 18: Sachin Tendulkar has been declared fit to play in the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today said. "Tendulkar has been undergoing rehabilitation under the supervision of team physiotherapist John Gloster and in the last five days has made progress satisfactory enough to make him available for the Sri Lanka series," BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah told newspersons.
"Tendulkar had a final assessment of his shoulder by his doctor (Andrew Wallace) in London prior to playing the matches for Lashings club," Shah said. He further said that "there would be no need for a fitness test" which the batsman was scheduled to undergo here tomorrow.
The master batsman had his right shoulder operated on by Wallace in London on March 26, soon after the third and last Test against the visiting England. He missed the one-day series against England and the entire tour of the Caribbean in May-July.
The tri-series in Sri Lanka, involving South Africa as the third team, is scheduled from August 14 to 29. The Indian team for the series is to be announced here on July 20. (Agencies)
