Sydney, Nov 26: Veteran Australian Test captain Steve Waugh, who has turned his team into one of the greatest sides the nation has ever produced in any sport, said today that he will retire from international cricket at the end of the upcoming series against India.
In a press conference televised live throughout Australia, Waugh, 38, said he would hang up his baggy green cap at the end of the final test in the series in Sydney starting January 2.
"All good things must come to an end," Waugh told the press conference at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
There was no immediate announcement on a successor but one-day captain Ricky Ponting is considered the most likely to replace Waugh as captain. (Agencies)
