New Delhi, Feb 19 Ishant Sharma probably cannot do anything wrong but success has far too many fathers and the beanpole Delhi speedster should be wary of unwanted advices, said eminent bowling coach T A Sekar.
Sekar, chief coach at the MRF Pace foundation was effusive in his praise of Ishant and hoped that the lanky pacer doesn't get swayed by suggestions from all quarters.
"He is an exciting bowler and the hot property of the Indian cricket. But in our country success has too many fathers and he will find a lot of people offering their pieces of advice.
"He will find a number of coaches claiming credit for his success. Ishant needs to be careful, he has to take only those that suit him and ignore the rest," the former paceman said.
Sekar felt job of a coach is limited in a team.
"A good team makes a good coach and not vice-versa. A coach has a minor role to play but the media here tends to exaggerate his importance." Sekar believes young pacers like Pradeep Sangwan and Vijaykumar Yo Mahesh have it in them to be India's future pace battery.
"Sangwan is just 18, he is sharp and brings the bowl into the right-hander. Besides, he is quite intelligent too and these are the three qualities you look for in a promising bowler.
"Yo Mahesh is also a good prospect, he is 20-year-old and has good speed. He can bat a bit as well," Sekar said.
Sekar has been roped in to look after cricket operation of 'Delhi Daredevils' IPL team. (Agencies)
