Man of the Series |
Kumble made his 100th Test a memorable encounter by applying the finishing touches to a great personal and team series with the last wicket of Malinga Bandara who was caught at second slip by first innings centurion V V S Laxman to start the home team's celebrations even as spectators were walking into the stadium.
The Karnataka man started the Lankan slide by having overnight batsman Farveez Maharoof leg before in the second over of the chilly morning.
It was the ace Bangalore leg-spinner's 31st five-wicket haul with second innings figures of 5 for 89 and match analysis of 7 for 176 which left him only 15 wickets adrift of the 500-wicket mark.
Equally impressive was his spin twin Harbhajan who ended with three second innings wickets for 79 runs and a ten-wicket haul for the match while conceding 141 runs, his fourth in 50 Tests. (Agencies)
