Petition against India-Lanka match
Chennai, Nov 30: A petition has been filed in a city civil court seeking interim stay on conducting the India-Sri Lanka Test match, starting here on December 2. Admitting the petition, second assistant city civil court judge I.Pandurangan posted it for hearing tomorrow.
In his petition, one Suresh Babu, residing at Netaji Nagar in Gummidipoondi, contended that normally October to December every year was the period of the northeast monsoon.
Already in the past, a one-day match featuring India and New Zealand was washed out due to rains. Also, the last day of the India-Australia cricket Test match last year was affected due to rains. Similarly, the recent one-dayer against South Africa had to be abandoned due to rains. Hence, the petitioner sought an interim stay on the India-Sri Lanka Test match. (Our Correspondent)
