Ganguly receives special attention at nets
Chennai, Nov 30: Former captain Sourav Ganguly received special attention from fans when he strode out for practice sessions today with other team members at the M A Chidambaram Stadium here, where the first of the three Test matches between India and Sri Lanka, is to be held on December 2. For onlookers, the much publicised spat between coach Greg Chappell and Ganguly seemed a thing of the past as the latter listened attentively to Chappell's advice soon after he completed his quota of 20 minutes batting practice on two different pitches.
Ganguly had just removed his gloves when Chappell walked up to him. The stylish left-hander was given a few tips in batting. Perhaps, the coach was explaining to Ganguly to open up his shoulders when he goes for driving a delivery. Chappell spent a little over five minutes with
Ganguly.
Captain Rahul Dravid and his men were also busy at the nets. According to present scheme of things in the Indian team, Ganguly, who was elected by a 3-2 verdict to be in the squad for the first Test, by the selection committee meeting on Nov 23, will be in the playing eleven as an all rounder. According to Board sources, he is likely to bat at number six, after Gautam Ghambir, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and V V S Laxman. (Our Correspondent)
