Chennai, Dec 5: National cricket selectors today retained the same team that played the first Test for the second match against Sri Lanka in Delhi from December 10 to 14. The first Test at the M A Chidambaram stadium was marred by rain and the first three days were a washout. Play finally got underway on the fourth day at 3 p.m. with 32 overs bowled in the only session.
The team for the third Test would be picked on the fourth day of the second match at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground. Kiran More, chairman of selectors, said there was no discussion on any player. "There was oddly any cricket in three-four days," he said. "We discussed more on domestic cricket."
Asked why the team was chosen on a match-by-match basis and not for the whole series, More said, "We are playing at home. We can pick the team after seeing the result and performance after each match." The squad for the second Test. (Our Correspondent)
