Ahmedabad, Dec 17: The Indian team management is hopeful that captain Rahul Dravid will be able to recover in time for the third and final cricket Test against Sri Lanka and have not sought any replacement player in the squad.
Coach Greg Chappell told a match-eve press conference that Dravid, who was hospitalized with gastroenteritis symptoms yesterday, had shown signs of improvement and the team was hopeful he would be able to take the field tomorrow.
He refused to take any questions on the omission of Sourav Ganguly. The former Australian captain believed that the team had the back up players to fill in Dravid's boots, should the 32-year-old Karnataka batsman be unavailable.
On the Sri Lankan side, captain Marvan Atapattu is among those on the sick list down with flu, but he came to the ground for nets this morning. (Agencies)
