Ahmedabad, Dec 19: Former BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya today visited ailing cricket captain Rahul Dravid at a local hospital here. "We hope that Dravid gets better soon. The team needs him", Dalmiya told reporters after emerging from the Rajasthan hospital. Dalmiya spent about five minutes with Dravid who is recovering from gastroenteritis due to which he missed the third test against Lanka being played here.
Yesterday newly appointed BCCI president Sharad Pawar met Dravid at the hospital. Meanwhile, doctors attending on Dravid said that he was recovering well and his diet was also near normal. "Dravid is perfectly fine but just a bit weak. We cannot say for certain when he will be discharged but the team officials will also check his condition today before any decision is taken", the doctor said.
Dravid missed out on setting a unique record due to this ailment as he would have been the first player ever to play 100 tests non-stop since debut. Dravid has been ill right since the start of the second test against the Lankans at Delhi and had to be on medication just before the match. He also missed out net-practice at Ahmedabad and was admitted to the hospital on December 18.(Agencies)
