Chappell all praise for Team India
Ahmedabad, Dec 21: Coach Greg Chappell today attributed India's dominance over Sri Lanka in the Test series to their patience and perseverance, the two traits which he said would hold the team in good stead in the days to come.
Chappell said he was satisfied with the way his wards performed in the series but added that it was imperative for them to keep working hard to achieve the desired consistency.
"I am happy with most aspects of what we have done in the home series. If we can keep working on all aspects we can get better.
We can continue to be more consistent with what we do," he said after the fourth day's play in the third Test which India look all set to win. "The big thing with the Test matches particularly has been the patience we have shown with both bat and ball. These have been hard wickets to play cricket on. They have not been easy to score quickly on. They have not been wickets where you can expect to run through teams," he said.
"I think we have shown good patience and perseverance in the two Test matches. We have a learned a lot about ourselves and about the conditions in India that we can use in the future," Chappell said. "We have made progress in most areas and have to keep working in all areas but we can't sit back and relax." Looking back at the day's play, he said, "it would have been nice to have finished off the game today itself. But the Sri Lankans batted well and that's the way it goes. I am happy with the way the boys persevered and put the team in a position from which we can win the Test match." (Agencies)
