Nagpur, Jan 19: The West Indies team led by Brian Lara arrived here this morning for the first one-day international match against India being played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) ground on January 21.
The Indian team had a workout in the morning while the visitors will have nets in the afternoon.
The other ODIs of the four-match series will be played at Cuttack (Jan 24), Chennai (Jan 27) and Baroda (Jan 31).
Meanwhile, elaborate security arrangements have been made for the match here with the police installing 16 cameras and setting up a control room in the stadium to monitor the crowd, Wijay Chitalay, secretary of VCA, and Amitesh Kumar, zonal deputy commissioner, told reporters here today.
Briefing security measures, Kumar said that over 1,000 policemen/women will be deployed along with 100 sub-inspectors, 25 inspectors, eight assistant commissioners and three deputy commissioners supervising the security.
The spectators will not be allowed to carry cigarettes, lighters, matchboxes, audio-video recording equipments, walkie-talkies, transistors, cameras, pocket radio, tape recorders and crackers besides cold drinks and plastic bottles inside the stadium, he added.
More than 50 per cent of the tickets, mostly of higher denominations, have been sold so far, Chief Coordinator of VCA Sudhir Dabir said. (Agencies)
