Bhubaneswar, Jan 24: Orissa police today submitted a report on the manhandling of Indian team cricket coach Greg Chappell to Chief Minister Naveen
Patnaik.
After submitting the report to the Chief Minister, Director General of Police Amarananda Patnayak had a meeting with home secretary Tarunkanti
Mishra.
Talking to newsmen after the meeting, the Orissa police chief said there was a security lapse at the airport which caused the manhandling of Chappell and certain corrective measures had been suggested in the report.
The home secretary said the police officers on duty had been asked to explain the lapse.
"If their explanation was not found to be satisfactory further action would be contemplated," he said, adding "VVIP security at the airport would be given a re-look." One Biranchi Maharana, an activist of local political outfit Kalinga Sena, broke the security cordon at the airport and rushed towards Chappell while members of India and West Indies sides were approaching the team buses after their arrival. Maharana manhandled the former Australian captain before police overpowered and arrested him. (Agencies)
