I will wait for my opportunity: Parthiv

Indian wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel, who could not play a single match in the country's World Cup campaign in South Africa, yesterday said he would wait for his opportunity to be part of the playing eleven in the prestigious tournament next time.

Talking to reporters, Patel was all praise for the Indian team members and management and their valuable support.

He said his chance to perform behind the wickets was not possible because the team's overall combination was good and management did not find any reason to change it.

The wicket-keeper batsman also praised vice-captain Rahul Dravid's stint behind the stumps and said, “Dravid did a good job behind the stumps throughout the tournament.”

Patel said he got a lot of inspiration and guidance from Australian keeper Adam Gilchrist.

“I had regular chats with Gilchrist and he always told me to focus on the ball and improve my body movement with it. He also showed me drills to improve my techniques,” he said.

Replying to a question regarding the team's stance after Australia posted 360 runs, Patel said, “Everyone knew in the back of their minds that it was a high total to defend especially against Australia but hope did emerge after it rained.”
