Sehwag hit on the head during nets

Even before they started their campaign on the tour of England, an injury scare hit the Indian cricket team today with key player Virender Sehwag being hit on the head but the Indian camp insisted that no serious damage had been done.

Sehwag was hit on his forehead by a Zaheer Khan shot while fielding at the Lord's cricket ground during the team's first net practice session on their 83-day gruelling tour of England featuring a triangular one-day series, also involving Sri Lanka and four Test matches.

Sehwag left the ground and was said to be feeling slightly uneasy. He was examined by Dr Shishir Ray, medical advisor at the Indian High Commission here, who said the injury was not serious. He, however, referred the batsman to have a scan done as a precautionary measure.

Team physio Andrew Leipus accompanied Sehwag to the scanning centre but the report of the scan was not immediately known.

The dashing middle-order batsman had just recovered from a shoulder injury that he sustained during the home series against Zimbabwe and had to miss action for more than a month before joining the team for the one-dayers against West Indies last month.
