Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has expressed happiness with the team selected for the New Zealand tour and hoped that the side would perform well during the tour. "We have a good and balanced side. The selectors have given a chance to a number of young talents, and this is praiseworthy," Ganguly, accompanied by all rounder Yuvraj Singh, told newspersons here yesterday.
"We will definitely try to perform to the best of our abilities there," he said ahead of the 47-day tour during which India will play two Tests and seven one-dayers. The Indians are scheduled to fly out on December 1. The Indian skipper also said Rahul Dravid would continue to stand behind the stumps in one-dayers against the Kiwis.
Ganguly said injuries to key players were the main reason behind India’s 3-4 loss to the West Indies in the just concluded limited overs international series. "The team performed well in Tests, but lost the one-day series mainly because of injuries," he said.
