Cricket Selection Committee chairman Chandu Borde today expressed happiness over the performance of seamers Javagal Srinath, Ashish Nehra and Zaheer Khan in the second Test match against the West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval, which the Indians won by 37 runs yesterday.
Borde, who was here to pick the India A team for the tour of Sri Lanka, said the Indian bowlers had kept their nerves at the crunch time to bowl out the West Indies for 275 in their second innings.
“I think the Indians played like a team and they were hungry for success which is a very good sign. They played as a team with everyone contributing to its success”, he added.
“I should also mention about Rahul Dravid’s brave innings in the first Test at Georgetown. He took a nasty hit on the helmet and not only continued to bat but went on to score an unbeaten 144 at a crucial juncture,” Borde said.
“Probably that innings combined with Sachin Tendulkar and V V S Laxman’s fine contributions must have helped lift the morale of the team for the second Test. It is a welcome sign and I only hope the team does well in the rest of the matches and one must not take things easy,” Borde added.
