Mumbai,
Oct 30: Indian cricket team coach John Wright today said Sourav
Ganguly, who is recuperating after a surgery in Kolkata, was very
keen to join the team during the ongoing triangular one-day series.
"I spoke to Sourav after he was discharged from the hospital
and he told me he was very keen to get back into the thick of
things. Let us hope he will be able to join the team as early as
possible," Wright told reporters before the Indian team's net
practice at the Wankhede Stadium here for the crucial tie against
World champions Australia on November 1.
Speaking about
left-handed batsman Yuvraj Singh and Ajit Agarkar's promotion in the
batting order in the Gwalior tie against the same opponents which
India won by 37 runs, Wright said "flexibility is very
important in one-day cricket and the captain (acting captain Rahul
Dravid) will decide about the batting order for the November one tie
as per the situation". "Like the captains change or
shuffle the bowlers around, even in batting order too one should
have flexibility which could prove to the success of the team like
it happened in Gwalior," he added.
Speaking about
left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra's inclusion as an additional member in
the one-day squad, Wright said "we want Ashish to practice with
the team as we want toe as much as we can of him before he may be
considered for the next three league matches". "We left
him out for the two games as we were not sure of his full recovery
and also we did not want to rush him as he will be important to us
in Australia," Wright added. (Agencies)
