Mumbai,
Oct 30: Left-arm seam bowler Ashish Nehra, who seems to have
recovered fully after an ankle operation on his right leg in April,
has been brought in as an additional member to practice with the
Indian cricket team before the crucial one-day game against the
Aussies in the triangular series to be played at the Wankhede
Stadium here on November 1. Nehra told reporters before the Indian
team's practice today that the team management, including physio
Andrew Leupius and the new trainer wanted him to practice with the
team so that he could play the next three one-dayers after the
Mumbai tie.
"I have been
bowling flat-out during the nets with the Delhi Ranji Trophy team
and I am fully fit. In fact, I have played a couple of one-day
league matches in Delhi circuit after the Mohali Test and have been
bowling 10 to 15 overs every day without any discomfort," he
added. Speaking about the county offers he got soon after the World
Cup in South Africa, Nehra said "the offer is still open and I
might take it up next year".
Nehra also said he
was working out daily in the gymnasium and was doing lot of running
and free hand exercises. He said he has started bowling in the nets
and was looking forward to the season ahead. Asked whether he was
doing anything new for the coming series against Australia, Nehra
replied in the negative. "I have not started anything as yet as
I first want to get into the team for the remaining part of the
triangular series," Nehra added. (Agencies)
