India in Newzealand

How to conquer the Mighty Australians

Yet again, Australians toyed with the Indian bowling and trampled all over them.
Nothing new. Nothing we are not familiar with. Australians don’t seem to believe in surprises; neither do we!!
However, all is not lost. Mighty they are, may be, but not unconquerable. All that is required are a few ‘adjustments’ and if these are in place, the probability of ‘taming the kangaroos’ is very high.

1. India will bowl 50, six-ball overs, while Australia should bowl 50 ‘Australian’ (8 balls per over) overs.

2. India will be allowed at least one extra fielder, when Indians field.

3. Anytime the ball raps an Australian batsman on the pads, he is out, appeal or no appeal.

4. India will have the choice and flexibility to have different sets of players for batting and bowling - if we are bowling we will field as many bowlers as we want. When we go into bat next, the team will be changed to all 11 batsmen.

5. Sachin Tendulkar will get at least one ‘official life’ - he has to get out twice, at least, before he goes back to the pavilion.

6. When we bat first in a day-night match and get to bowl to the Aussies, our bowlers should have a continuous supply of dry balls - could be even 300 balls; if the Aussies bowl second, they will not be allowed to wipe the ball with a towel or anything. If any player does so, it will be declared ball tampering and the team fined heavily.

7. Last, but not the least, India will select the Australian team it wants to play against.

If all the above are negotiated with the ACB and ICC, then the chances of India beating Australia will be greatly improved. If the ICC tries to put a spoke, the BCCI can always threaten to boycott all tours, all tournaments and have its way. Let’s act quickly and restore our national pride.
