Revathi’s Bharatanatya arangetram
The Bharatanatya arangetram of J Revathi, disciple of Dr Ambika Kameshwar, is to be held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chennai, on January 16, 2007, at 6.30 p.m.
Dr Ambika Kameshwar, a multi-faced personality, is a noted danseuse, choreographer, vocalist, music composer and rehabilitation facilitator. She is a very respected and loved teacher in
RASA, an organisation helping special children.
She has done her Ph.D in Natyabhinaya from the University of Madras and her post-doctoral Fellowship as a senior fellow of the Government of India was on the application of dance, drama, music and other aspects of theatre for holistic development.
She is the recipient of several awards such as Shree Ratna, Bharata Kala Ratna, for the Sake of Honour Award from the Rotary and the prestigious Kalaimamani award from the Government of Tamil
Nadu.
Revathi has had her training in Bharatanatyam from Dr Ambika Kameshwar for the past 10 years.
She has performed in many dance ballets along with RASA – Chennai, and Ramana Maharaishi Centre for Learning,
Bangalore.
She graduated from M O P Vaishnav College for Women, Chennai, in 2004, and has completed her Masters in Personnel Management from
Pune.
She has performed in Nepal, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kochi, Pune and
Madurai.
The chief guest for the arangetram will be Umayal Ramanathan, secretary, Alagappa Educational Trust, Karaikudi, and the guest of honour, renowned actress and dancer
Sripriya.
The choreography and nattuvangam will be by the guru. Vocal support will be provided by Vaishnavi Poorna, while S R Krishnan will play on the mridangam, and Nagaraju on the violin.
