US-based Tamil theatre group in Chennai
US-based Tamil theatre group, Krea, will be staging their latest production - Kadavulin Kangal - in Chennai and Bangalore during the first week of August 2006.
Commenting on the reverse-trend venture, Dheepa Ramanujam, founder of Krea and director of the show, said, "We are back in India with a lot more confidence after the rave reviews we received from theatre patrons and the media last year when we staged our novel musical drama 'Sruti Bhedham'. Our mission is to take Tamil theatre to the next generation with our contemporary theme and high-valued production."
'Kadavulin Kangal' was written by TAR. Original Music was composed by GiriRaj exclusively for this play which is directed by Dheepa Ramanujam. Krea is collaborating with some of the talented local artistes. (Sreevathson of Dummies Drama is doing the lead role and veterans like T D Sundarajan, Shivaji Chaturvedhi from Stage Creations, B V Moorthy and Ramesh from Gurukulam and Vijay Chandh from Agasto Creations are doing the supporting roles).
In Chennai, the shows are to be staged at Museum Theatre, Egmore, on August 4, 5 and 6, 2006.

Krea was founded in 2003 with the mission to bring rich Tamil theatrical heritage to the North American soil and serve as a platform for the local people to exhibit their talent apart from partnering to exchange plays between India and the US.
Krea has done plays and handled multiple subjects from political satire, to social plays and psychological thrillers to musical drama including some comedy shows.
The company has partnered with Indian drama troupes and playwrights, such as Bombay Chanakya's 'Niram Marum Nijangal' staged as 'Maya' in the US soon after the inauguration in India; T V Varadharajen and Krea Artists staged United Visual's 'Kalakara Chandru Pramadham' in the US, written by
Venkat.
Their first play to start a 'reverse-trend' - 'Sruti Bhedham' - staged in the US in February 2005, and subsequently in Chennai with all US artistes in July 2005.
Krea's team consists of Dheepa Ramanujam, who is the founder/director, with 10+ years of theatre and acting experience. She has acted in K Balachander's TV serials and with Bombay Gnanam on stage.
