M.A. Natya
The Dr MGR-Janaki College of Arts and Science For Women, Chennai, is introducing a new course, M.A. Natya (Performing Arts), which is affiliated to the University of Madras.
The course is a five-year integrated course and students who successfully complete three years of study will be awarded B.A. degree in Natya. Students who opt to continue for two more years will get an M.A. in Natya. This degree will be awarded by the University of Madras and it is the first time in 150 years of the university's history that a five-year integrated M.A. course in Natya has been started, says Latha Rajendran, secretary and correspondent of the college.
Applications for the M.A. course will be issued in the college offfice from the May 16. The cost of the application and prospectus is Rs 100. The fees for the course will be Rs 14,000 per annum, payable in two instalments of Rs 8,000 and Rs 6,000. The faculty who will handle the classes for this course will be Rajshree Vasudevan (M.Phil in Performing Arts and disciple of Padma Subramaniam) and other experts from the field.

Eligibility: Candidates seeking admission to the first year of the integrated M.A. Natya course should have passed the higher secondary examination conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu or an examination accepted as equivalent to it by the university Syndicate. An aptitude for dance and music is preferred for admission.

1. Dance, music & drama (both theory and practical)
