Bala Devi Chandrashekar - Artistic Director and Professor of Practice - SPNAPA - Performing Arts, Princeton, New Jersey, was presented the prestigious Nrithya Seva Mani Award at the
Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana 2007.
The title of 'Nrithya Seva Mani' is bestowed upon an individual who has made a lasting contribution to classical dance through propagation and demonstration in the United States and Canada.
Honorees are cultural festival organisers, tour sponsors and patrons who have actively supported the performance and learning of classical dance in their communities. This year, the award was presented to Bala Devi Chandrashekar, an exponent of Bharata Nrithyam, as visualised by her guru, Dr Padma
Subrahmanyam.
