The city of
Chennai recently witnessed the vibrant colours of Thailand at
the 'Thai Night' organised by the Royal Thai Embassy at the
Mowbrays & Chamiers, Park Sheraton. The evening was part of the
Indo-Thai FTA roadshow to India, a project initiated by the
embassy and supported by the Royal Thai Consulate-General in
Chennai.
The roadshow
started with a Seminar held during the day in collaboration with
CII to maximise the benefit from the Free Trade Agreement
between India and Thailand and followed by Thai Night reception.
Besides being a perfect platform for informal interaction among
eminent personalities from Chennai and Bangkok business circles,
the Thai Night also offered a series of splendid cultural
performances along with a DVD presentation by the Tourism
Authority of Thailand.
Presided over
by Sawanit Kongsiri, Deputy foreign Minister of Thailand, the
occasion saw the presence of a host of dignitaries from public
and private sectors from India and Thailand. It aimed at
promoting relationship between the two countries through
strengthening of trade and investment relations.
The Thai Night continued with
mesmerising performances by talented Thai dance troupe. To
further lend the Thai ambience to the evening, the guests were
treated to an array of authentic Thai food prepared by Thai
chefs from Suan Dusit International Culinary School. Altogether,
the evening proved to be as colourful and wonderful as the
culture of Thailand.
Speaking on the occasion, the
Deputy Foreign Minister or Thailand said, "We must ensure free
and fair trade. In the meantime, we must redouble our efforts in
getting to know and understand each other to expand business
ties and realise opportunities."
'Thai Night' was organised by the
Royal Thai Embassy to serve as a platform for social and
cultural exchanges between the two countries and an opportunity
for Thai and Indian businessmen to interact informally.
