 Inspired drama
 Anna University Cultural Group proudly presented 'Vazhikattigal', an inspired stage play. It had its genesis in an interview of Vice-Chancellor, Dr E Balagurusamy, that appeared in the popular Tamil magazine 'Ananda Vikatan' (July 18, 2004). He had said education is not a business but a service. We found a wonderful theme in this simple statement.
The whole play is centered on a higher secondary school situated in a remote village. The play begins with the appointment of a headmaster for the school on a deputational basis. Mathematics teacher Janakiraman, from a nearby school, is considered for the post on the retirement of the present headmaster.
 This triggers a controversy, with science teacher Raghavan feeling offended for he also happens to be a senior teacher of the school. He vows to fix up Janakiraman, who is already appointed as headmaster on deputation. Raghavan, with his close friend, the Educational Officer, and his colleagues in the school, hatches many plots to pin down Janakiraman so that he could occupy the coveted post.
 Raghavan succeeds in his plot at last and drives away Janakiraman from the school with a suspension. But Raghavan is not satisfied with being just the temporary headmaster - he wants to permanently oust Janakiraman. As the plot thickens, it provides a lot of fun.
The characters of the play, staged at Mylapore Fine Arts during the 16th Kodai Nataka Vizha organised by Karthik Fine Arts, were all played by the faculty and staff of Anna University.
G Sivakumar, staff of the university library, had written the script and dialogues and structured the play lucidly and directed it.
