Balasaraswathi award for Meenakshi
The Balasaraswathi Award for 2006 for best dancer is to be conferred upon Meenakshi Raghavan by Sri Ragam Fine Arts, Chennai, on July 1.
The sabha is celebrating the 11th year dance festival in memory of Bharatanatyam dancer Padmavibhushan Balasaraswathi at the Ragasudha Hall, 85/2 Lux Avenue, Near Nageswara Rao Park, Mylapore, Chennai - 600 004.
The award is to be presented to two others also: N Anusha and Delhi Aarthi Shankar - by D Chandrasekar (IAS), Tamil Nadu State Election Commissioner.
The dancer-awardees would be felicitated by Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram president Rama Narayanan, M V Narasimhachari, S V Krishnan and Dr Sirkali Siva Chidambaram.
The dance festival is a five-day affair wher students of different gurus will be presenting Bharatanatyam
programmes.
