By H Ramakrishnan Rich, Yes Are We Happy?

A lot has happened since we attained independence and it is not the same for other nations and colonies to which freedom came much later. No doubt, weve come a long way since then and one thing that one has to have noticed by now is that we are not a happy nation anymore. At one point of time long ago - we were happy and then it became everyday news when it came to communal clashes, clashes between different states, different linguistic groups, sects and so on. ..

Since globalization in the early 1990's our economy has grown and giant steps forward have been taken. There is no denying this. But there can be no disagreement that more than half of us are still below the poverty line. Subramania Bharathi had suggested that even if one individual starves, we have no right to live.
The economic growth has been good only for a few sections of people and there is more than half the nation left behind in abject poverty and hunger. Does independence mean this?

61 years and there is Half a nation without Roti, Kapda aur makaan. One gets to know from this that something is fundamentally wrong with our very foundations and can only hope that it is corrected at least now.
One can also hope that we will become not only an economic super power, but also a happy nation. JAI HIND
