Vasudaiva Kutumbakam
Peace in the present world looks like a mirage in a desert of
war. Einstein had said that, next to religion, nationalism
divides man and man. Wars arise because of differences of
opinion in these areas. Otherwise why should at all man go to
war? It was, I think Fyodor Dostoevsky who said that there is
nothing easier than lopping off heads and nothing harder than
developing ideas.
It is in this context that what Radha Burnier said gains
significance. Acknowledging the Golden Lotus Award of
Chennaionline the President of the Theosophical Society said
that nurturing harmony between groups of people alone can make
you turn your back on war. Our endeavour should be to create a
warless society.
For peaceful coexistence, you cannot find a
place like India. She said Anne Besant came to India, because
she knew that India can offer things which no other country can.
India’s belief and faith in seeing the whole universe as one
family has no parallel. This is what India offers to the world.
The whole world is may family – or, Vasudaiva Kutumbakam is the
nucleus of Indian Philosophy.
Chennaionline could not have conferred
this inaugural award to any one more deserving than Radha
Burnier, the internationally renowned eighty-four year young
girl of Chennai. Ramakrishnan
