"Happy Teachers Day"
I have a pleasant wish for the teachers. Teachers are like God because they keep guiding a lot of students. When the students grow up and if they come out successful it is because of the teachers. It is in the hands of the teachers to shape the lives of their students. |

Parents are your first teachers and teachers are your second parents, they say. Well, I was too young to realise it then. When I was in 5th Std at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Chennai, Ma'm was our
Maths teacher. Maths, oops! How much I used to detest the subject. She taught me one big lesson in my life - love the things that you hate. She gave us this assignment - whoever practices the subject for an hour a day will win a prize. More than the prize, it was the appreciation in front of the whole class, that too from her that triggered me. My parents were more than overwhelmed at my change of attitude. I did very well throughout the year .Won the prize too. Yeah,
Maths was my cup of tea by then. Today, if I can take things in my stride, I owe it to that one year of thorough practice. Thank you M'am. A big salute to all my teachers, on this day! Whatever I am, I owe it to you. |

Teachers day is a very important day. Its seriousness has not been realised by many. The role played by teachers in imparting education in our society is a very valuable one. Education is the only solution for salvaging our current society from all its present misery. Education is the only solution for the entire world to reach a better state of well-being. The whole purpose of our lives in this unique planet has always been intuitively directed towards leaving the world a better place for our children and fellow beings. As long as we fail to realise this and put into use the vast unlimited potential of our human intellect, all the advancements of our civilization over centuries will bring neither real peace of mind nor harmonious life for the whole of mankind. |

The teachers are the backbone of the each and every student. So we have to give respect to them. They are like a ladder. And we have to make use of them. Many more happy returns of the Teachers day. |

Bro. Stephen of San Thome High School, Madras, was a very devoted and caring Head Master. He taught us English, but helped us with all the other subjects. A strict disciplinarian he was caring and kind. His inspiration made me strive for academic excellence later in life. I still remember his intonation "Do today's work today!" Later in life he was a strong and inspiring friend. He was well versed in Christian values and Hindu philosophy and taught me by example the unity of all religions. I miss his mortal presence but he is still there guiding me in his own way. |
