a. Ensure that the writing tools such as pens, pencils, paper, and notebooks are readily available
c. Ask your children to describe people, animals, and events to you. Help them to be observant about everyday things around them. d. Provide a listening ear, asking questions about what they have written. Encourage them to read their story to other family members as well. e. Encourage your child to take notes when visiting a zoo or museum or while on vacation and use those notes to write about the event when he or she returns home. f. Show your child an old family photograph or a picture cut from a magazine, then ask him or her to make up a story about the photograph or picture.
h. Support your child's writing efforts. Take a positive approach and don't criticize handwriting or incorrect spelling.

In order for any child to write, we must first build up their fine motor skills. Working with play dough or clay, measuring and pouring sand and water, and practising writing are excellent ways to improve fine motor skills. Young children should always be kept active. A child's fingers, limbs and brain should be active and well co-ordinated. To enthuse your child to write meaningfully adopt the following simple methods.
b. Be a role model. Let your children see you write birthday cards, thank-you notes, grocery lists, and to-do lists. Ask for their input when you are writing.
g. Set rules for your children to practise writing just as you do for them to practise musical instruments or sports. Encourage them to write at least a page a day.
