Young achievers of Chennai
Rotary Club of Madras
Chennapatna's young achievers award was given as part of their School Techday
2003. Sv Rm Ramanathan, district governor, Rotary dist of Chennai, speaking
after distributing the awards said, “We are selling our brains to foreigners.
About 55 employees out of 100 working in NASA are Indians. When they can make an
American touch the moon surface, why can't they work in India and make an Indian
touch the same moon surface?”
Anvesha Reddy of Church Park
received the champion - young achiever award. Anitha Sivasankaran of Padma
Seshadri Bala Bhavan (PSBB) received the young achiever award for academics,
Raghavi of PSBB received the award for sports, N. Bhanu Teja of Chinmaya
Vidyalaya received the award in arts and extra-curricular activities, Greeshma
Rai of the same school received heroism and bravery young achiever award, A.R.
Akash of PSBB received the overall school young achiever award.
N Dyanesh of IIT Madras
received for academics, Nischinta of Stella Maris received for arts and
extracurricular activities and Khateeja Parveen of SIET received overall young
achiever award.
Karthik, a handicapped boy from
GOS Home for the Handicapped children received special recognition award along with
Suchitra Ramadurai, the famous radio jockey of Radio Mirchi, Anirudh, Ashwin,
Gopal Rao of PSBB (winners of the Indian National Robotic Olympiad).
K B Sridhar, director,
vocational services, Rotary Club of Madras Chennapatna, proposed a vote of
thanks.
Earlier, Dr K P Mishra of
Apollo Hospitals, in his motivational speech titled 'You can do it', advised
students to dream more to reach their goals and also he gave three mantras to
reach that high goals: I am, I can, I will.
Other eminent speakers who
spoke on various topics included M S V Janakiraman, developer with Microsoft,
about 'Next generation computing'; Baylon Fonseca, vice-president, SAE College,
on 'Careers in multimedia' (his main focus was animation industry and
technologies involved in it) and Ganesh, manager, Edutech India.
Arun Balakrishnan, director of
Centre for Biotechnology at Anna University, lectured on careers in the sunrise
industry of biotechnology. Dr M Rajesh Menon of Madras Medical Mission (MMM)
spoke on 'Technology in healthcare'.
