Chennai Latte -- A Madras Brew
The book 'Chennai Latte - A Madras Brew', a campilation of the humour column, 'A-musings' in the 'Madras Musings', written by Ranjitha Ashok and Biswajit Balasubramanian, was released in Chennai recently.
In 2002, S Muthiah, the editor of 'Madras Musings', decided that humour was an effective means of drawing attention to various facets of city life and everyday issues.
The humour column, 'A-musings', thus came into being, the first piece published on January 16th, 2002. Chennai-based in content, the column,
focused mainly on events and situations in the cit, in keeping with the spirit of Madras Musings. The column also tackled issues that are inherent to life in general, common to people everywhere and issues which anyone can identify.
Writer Ranjitha Ashok and cartoonist Biswajit Balasubramanian went about collecting material for the bi-weekly column by scouring through newspapers, magazines and watching news channels, observing citizens and registering their ideas and concerns. In short, they listened to the voice of the city.
The book is a compilation of a part of their work for A-musings over three years. It is published by EastWest Books (Madras) Pvt Ltd. and priced at Rs 170.
