The book 'Bhoomikku Veliye Oru Pudhayal', authored by Siddha doctor A Ramalingam, B I M, is to be launched on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the Pitti Tyagaraya Hall on G N Chetty Road in T Nagar at 5.30 p.m.
Born in Tiruvannamalai, Dr Ramalingam got his doctorate from the government Siddha college in Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli.
He joined the Anna Hospital in Anna Nagar, Chennai, as a research officer. He took voluntary retirement some years ago and is now running a clinic called Dr Ramalingam Siddha Clinic, at No 5, Nathamuni Street, Shenoy Nagar, Chennai - 600 030.
Because of his love for Tamil, he has written a lot about Siddha. A gifted speaker, he still runs Siddha workshops in colleges and government offices.
He gave a series of lectures on All India Radio Chennai on the topic that is the title for his book now (Hidden wealth above the Earth).
His articles on Siddha medicine continue to be published every Sunday in the daily 'Nam Dinamathi', in
Tiruvannamalai.
The book that is being launched on Saturday is the culmination of research for 30 years. Dr Ramalingam has narrated several interesting incidents in his career and also easy-to-use Siddha medicines.
Writer and publisher Lena Thamizhvanan is releasing the book, the first copy of which will be received by Lions Club governor K Ranganathan. The second copy will be accepted by Dr K
Gireesh.
Former Madras High Court judge Justice V Rangasamy will be the guest of honour at the function that will be chaired by Siddha Medicine Central Research Institute director, Dr G
Velusamy.
A number of important personalities will be participating in the function to offer felicitations to the writer.
Dr Kala Kamalakarrao will be discussing the salient points of the book, following which Dr Ramalingam will deliver his acceptance speech.
An important part of the function would be a half-hour programme of Siddha songs presented by Sudha Varadarajan and Harini Bharath from 5 p.m.
The whole programme would be compered by Jayashree Sundar, who is a news reader on Sun TV.
The book, which has 400 pages, has been priced at Rs 180. But it will be available at a discounted price of Rs 150 at the venue of the book launch.
