 Amazing Memory at Abacus
A new memory programme called Amazing
Memory was launched by Dr. Yip Swee Chooi at Ideal Play Abacus (IPA) at Chennai recently. Dr Yip Swee Chooi is a world-renowned Memory Master from
Malaysia and the programme is his brainchild. This programme is designed for
children above 13 years.
Dr Yip Swee Chooi said, "IPA is the first company in India to complete the advanced course in Abacus. To ensure the highest quality of teaching, the course instructors from Chennai were trained by Internationally Trained Moderators from
Malaysia and China.
Amazing Memory emphasizes on the techniques of memorizing with the combined usage of left and right sides of the brain. This helps to increase speed in memorization. It improves the imagination, concentration and creativity of the individual and enhances the functions of brain thereby making one understand better. The programme has 10 levels or terms, each from Basic to Graduate.
"Amazing Memory is a proven scientific method to learn and to memorize in quantity together with speed without an error. Therefore it is a clear and added advantage to excel in today's high - speed digital world. This method can unlock the unlimited power of human memory and it helps the person to discover one's own most effective personal learning styles. The course provides a good spark of motivation in learning for more," he added.
Shaarda Sriram, Director, Ideal Play Abacus, said, "This is the only programme in India with advance level training after graduation involving calculation like division with decimals, under root, sq.root, cubes and negative numbers."
The first International Grade Exam was conducted in India recently and Advanced Premier Achievement Training Certificates were given to the participants. IPA has recently got ISO certification from BSI. Within a short period of one year IPA has grown to 100 centers and has established Master Franchise in Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Goa, Delhi and Punjab and will be launching more centers in other states soon.
Dr Yip Swee Chooi, a world-class memoriser, started teaching the memory technique from the early 1990s and is one of the best-known educators and memory experts in the world. Known as the 'Walking Dictionary' for his ability to memorise 1774 pages from the Oxford Dictionary, Dr Yip Swee Chooi has made several appearances in different forms of media.
In a brief demonstration, he showed he could recall every entry in the Oxford Dictionary, giving the page number and the position, with the meaning of the word. He could also read out every number written on a board written by a challenger (there were over a 100 numbers on the board), and could read out the numbers in reverse order!
