Perth
Education City (PEC), together with the Western Australian (WA)Trade
Office in Mumbai will be organising its annual Western
Australian Education Exhibition (WAEE) in seven Indian cities -
Baroda, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Chennai from
*6 – 13 February 6 to 13, 2008. This is the second successive
year in which PEC is organising this event, and its first in
Delhi and Chennai, Mr. Jamal Qureshi, its first South Asia
Regional Marketing Manager for India told your correspondent
today. It is being organised in Chennai on Feb 13.
Western Australia has five universities as
well as other colleges and vocational training establishments
that attract approximately 30,000 foreign students from 60
countries annually at campuses both within Western Australia and
offshore. Western Australia provides international students with
various amenities like free transport facilities within the
Central Business District in Western Australia, upto 40%
discounts on study material as well as entertainment. The very
low unemployment percentage -3.2% - in Western Australia and the
acute shortage of labor offer students the opportunity of
employment and citizenship and of availing superior benefits.
There are over 17,000 job vacancies in Western Australia in the
Hospitality sector itself. Additionally the curriculum in the
Universities are specific to Industry needs, for example in the
field of IT the education system is looked after by IT companies
e.g. IBM, Oracle and students are absorbed by Microsoft and
other multinational IT companies. As the economy is booming the
state government has granted a 1200 million AUD for research.
Western
Australia is composed of five major regions -Perth, Coral Coast,
Golden Outback, North West, and South West. Each region has its
own unique aspects. Like India, Western Australia with its
capital city, Perth, is situated at the Indian Ocean rim. With
just 10 per cent of Australia's population, Western Australia
produces nearly 50 per cent of Australia's total export
earnings. It enjoys the lowest unemployment levels in Australia
and attracts nearly 20 per cent of Australia's total foreign
investment. Western Australia is the engine driver of
Australia's outstanding economic performance.
As a country, Australia has from many years
outperformed OECD economies and today is considered by BIS as
the best overall performing economy in the world.
