48 children, in the age group of 6 to 12, represented India at the SIP Academy International Competition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on September 26, 2004. The national winners who flew from Chennai were sponsored by SIP Academy India, said its India Head and managing director, Dinesh Victor. 

These children, over 40 of whom are from Chennai, were chosen after the 1st SIP Academy India national competition that was held in Chennai on July 18th, 2004. The children come from towns in South India like Madurai, Tiruchirapalli, Villupuram, Gobichettipalayam, Satyamangalam, Coimbatore, Salem and also from the large cities of Hyderabad and Chennai, Victor said. The children assembled in Chennai on 24th September, to fly out in the small hours of 25th September to Malaysia. The national winners are being sponsored by SIP Academy India.

SIP Academy India, the Indian arm of SIP Academy Malaysia, introduced the concept of 'Whole Brain Development' programmes for children aged between 6-12 years since 2002 in India. This 'Whole Brain Development' is achieved through the integration of 'Brain Gym' Exercises with the Abacus system of learning, unique only to SIP programmes, Victor pointed out.

This is SIP Academy India's debut at the International Competition with 1,000 children representing six countries. Today, there are 130 SIP Learning Centres in the four southern states, Maharashtra and New Delhi. More than 6,000 children were currently learning this programme, added M S Neelakantan, Advisor, Media Relations.
