St John's Cambridge School in Chennai
The St John's Cambridge School has been launched in Chennai. The new international school is a part of the St John's Educational Trust which also runs a residential school in Chennai. The school will offer Cambridge qualifications, said R Kishore Kumar, dean and director of the school.
Ann Puntis, chief executive of the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), attended the opening ceremony in Chennai and presented to Kishore Kumar an official Cambridge plaque.
In her address, she said, "Cambridge is committed to providing world-class education to students all over the world. Over the years, it has significantly expanded its operations in India, owing to huge demand for international education.
"CIE looks forward to a long and successful association with St John's Cambridge School," she added.
Kishore Kumar said, "It is a proud moment for the St John's Educational Trust which has opened a new chapter. The school now has the challenge of preparing students for the global marketplace. The school will take in students from classes 4 to 9, and would add tenth standard later."
