| Simran to act again
The heart-throb of the south, Simran,, says she will take a decision soon on acting in Tamil films once again.
The actress, who had ended her film career after her
marriage, recently helped out a Tamil film producer complete his film by participating in the
shooting schedule for a few days in Chennai. Her husband was at hand to help her out.
Simran, a brand ambassador of the Coca-Cola group, had a busy day April 7 when she visited five houses in Chennai to hand over prizes to winners of a competition conducted by Coca-Cola. Purchasers of Fanta had to enter a form (it carried Simran's photograph) and write a slogan.
The first person she called on was Mrithika, daughter of Shobha and Gopal Seshan, at their flat in the Poes Garden area. The apartment complex was a beehive of activity as neighbours thronged to have a glimpse of their favourite star.
Wearing a Fanta T-shirt and a Coca-Cola cap, Simran, looking slimmer than in the recent past, arrived with her husband, just half-an-hour behind schedule, which is considered good enough for a person in the film industry.
On reaching the flat, she called for Mrithika. Her sister and mother, Shobha, were present to receive the charming guest. The family and neighbours too seized the opportunity to take some snaps with
Simran.
Shobha said she had recently bought two bottles of Fanta and received a form for a contest. "We had to fill up the form and also enter a slogan for the contest. So our slogan was - Simran is the heart-throb of the country and
Fanta is the heart-throb of
Chennai."
She said her family was pleasantly surprised to hear the news that they were among the winners and that Simran would call on them.
Simran, accompanied by executives of the Coca-Cola group,
including V S N Anuj, were given a warm welcome by the kids of the complex. The actress handed over the prizes to the family of Shobha and happily posed for photographs.
The film celebrity was asked when she would resume her film career. "I hope I will be able to soon. I need the support of you people."
"The proposal to resume my film career is under consideration."
On whether she will resume acting in a couple of months, Simran said, "Let us see. I will take a decision soon."
She was also asked whether she would enter politics like some actresses have done jsut before the Lok Sabha elections. There was a loud and emphatic "no" from
Simran.
Poes Garden has two celebrities - Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and superstar
Rajinikant. On April 7, it had a third celebrity, although only on a 15-minute visit.
