Fifth
Pillar to fight corruption
|
M.B.
Nirmal, founder of Exnora International, that ushered in a new era of
cleanliness in the metropolis, has something else to cleanse too. Yes,
he wants to weed out corruption from our midst. He plans to launch a
foundation devoted to this mission. He released a book titled 'The Fifth
Pillar', which sets the agenda for combating corruption, recently.
In his
crusade Nirmal seeks the voluntary support of individuals and
organisations to provide a collective effect and tackle the issue.
Manpower resource management is quite crucial to handle the epidemic of
corruption in all its manifestations. Participation by all will be the
crucial feature of this movement. Once there is unity in voluntarism,
motivation and enlightenment about the issue, nothing can fail. This
foundation, besides its founder Nirmal has a noted advocate K.M. Vijayan
as the President and T.K. Ramkumar as the General Secretary and Advisor to
competently pilot the project.
Creating
awareness is the need of the hour. We have become immune, over the years,
to all the malpractices. 'Fixing' things have become a way of life.
Ultimately, it is the rule of law that should prevail in order to ensure
probity in public life. Gradually, there has been an erosion in culture.
The Fifth
Pillar is to be launched on June 9, 2000 at Rani Seethai Hall, Chennai at
6 p.m. N. Vittal, Chief Vigilance Commissioner, will chair the launch
meeting.
