The present generation hasn’t seen such a down time in job market with firing becoming the in word now. The big “Job Meltdown” has seen and continues to see obliteration of multitudes of professionals globally. The IT collapse has itself seen more than 10, 000 jobs vanish in the last one year. Besides the number of people opting for VRS schemes (Public sector banks) totaling 99,000. But at the same time where there is so much retrenchment happening, there are also a lot of recruitments on their way.
“All that you wanted to know, but were never told” - A Free Seminar, organized by IMS was an effort to bring to light the fact that the Difference can be attributed to one’s experience and the type of B school he hails from.
The seminar, which was attended mainly by working professionals, dealt with the multifarious opportunities in Management.
Mr. Dhanesh of IIM-A ’97 class emphasized the importance of management, especially the relevance of pursuing the course from the Top B schools. He elaborated on the kind of salary (7.3 lakhs was the average salary for IIM-B, $155,000 was the highest offer made to IIM-A
pass out) and companies the IIMs campus has been able to attract even in the present day recession. For instance, he spoke about the 24-year-old IIM-B’s Sachin Prasad who got a s$400,000 job with P&G.
Another cardinal issue that was discussed was that Finance/Banking and Marketing stole the placement show this year, leaving behind Consulting and Infotech. The seminar ended with
Mr. Dhanesh answering specific queries of the audience which revolved around the various streams in management, the increasing scope for students with experience and information about the Top 10 B-schools.
IMS, the institute that has enabled over 50,000 Indian youth make it to MBA and reach top positions regularly, works on awareness creation through seminars and setting up of information desks.
A similar seminar is coming up on the
