As noon approached, one could see column after column of students lining up to register themselves and enter the venue. The crowds further swelled in the afternoon, indicating the mind-set of the students. IT is clearly a destination for a large number of students. The following are some of the well-known brands on display at the exhibition. 1) TVS Electronics Limited
The TVS Sprint, which is also on display, is a machine that is picking up in the market at a very rapid pace, as at present there are as many as 350 organisations, both small and big, which use these machines in Chennai alone. This product has a three-year warranty. 2) This is a $ 15.5 billion company established in 1896, and they are into power management with as many as 60 brands. ENPI is in the business of providing total network uptime solutions to all mission critical equipments of organisations. In today's fast changing scenario of 24 x 7 x 365, various industries require total network uptime solutions. A few minutes' downtime can cause loss of money and goodwill, for example, data centres, call centres, ATM networks and telecom operators. ENPI provides the high nine's reliability to all its customers. The products on display at the exhibition are Super 400, Upstation Gxt AV 1, 2 and 3 kva. The launches in this exhibition are I Trust- 30, 40, 60 kva. The company appears to be happy with the kind of response it has been getting in this exhibition. 3) Allsec Technologies Limited
Allsec Technologies works with some of the large Fortune 100 companies in the US & UK providing voice, E-mail and web services. They also provide BPO services in areas of HR & payroll and accounting. On display were images of their facilities and marketing material along with some on-line games & quiz for potential candidates aspiring for jobs with Allsec. 4) Sify
This Nasdaq-listed brand has also been chosen as a Superbrand by a panel of marketers and advertisers. Its enterprise security services include consulting services, managed security services and implementation services. Among its enterprise network services are secure connect, express connect and express talk. Its enterprise application services include web services, Sify mail, Express meet and beacon. 5) SSi
The services and products on display at the exhibition are banking, securities, e-government and travel. some of their clients spread across the globe are Nasdaq, Hypersion, United Overseas Bank and the Pacific Stock Exchange to name a few. However, what has been a major highlight of the Exhibition is the spirit of innovation displayed by SSi in promoting the company's vision. It has put up a mini-golf course at its stall in the Exhibition thus stirring up the corporates, who, even while they have a hard day, selling their products and out-selling their rivals. So much so, even the Tamil Nadu Minister for IT, Law and Electricity, Mr D Jayakumar, was tempted to go in for a tee. 6) Tata Consultancy Services
As far as industry practices are concerned, it lays a great deal of emphasis on banking, financial services, insurance, manufacturing and s-governance. The Exhibition concludes on Sunday, September 21.

It was yet another eventful day
today at the Connect 2003 Exhibition at the Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam.
In addition to captains of industry, school and college students turned up in
large numbers, displaying a great deal of interest in the IT products of the
companies that were participating in the Exhibition.
One of the foremost companies
in the field of electronics in India, this company has put on display its retail
automating products. The products on display at the stall are: (a)TVS Proton,
reputed to be the fastest bill printer available in the country; (b) TVS Point
of Sale Machines (POS) with applications in petrol stations, super markets and
departmental stores; (c) An application called 3e from iLabs Group -- it has
brought out a mini ERP for small and medium scale enterprises-- which has all
the major modules such as payroll, sales, purchases, inventory and accounts.

This is a multimedia integrated contact and BPO services centre based in Chennai and they have been in business since 2000. Allsec launched their HR BPO services at the Connect 2003 Launch Pad. 
This is one of the largest
network and e-Commerce services companies in India and offers end-to-end
solutions with a vast range of products. Corporate services account for much of
the company's revenues. Sify's network services, data centre operations and
customer relationship management are accredited ISO 9001:2000.
Established in 1999 , SSi is a
company that has the US and European countries among its target customer base.
Incidentally this is the first time they are participating in an exhibition of
this kind. Their intention is to create awareness of their services among
different companies rather than striking deals across the table. This
organisation is a global software development and consulting service provider in
the financial services section. They combine domain and technology expertise in
their business operation.
TCS happens to be a part of the
Tata Group which consists of 80 companies with an annual turnover of $ 10
billion. TCS offers an excellent blend of strategy consulting and system
integration services to help companies to build their businesses in the global
economy. They also have an in depth knowledge of the global economy by virtue of
having partnering with global technology leaders and executing innovative
projects for more than 1,000 clients spread across 53 countries.
