Touchtel expands reach in Chennai

Touchtel, Tamil Nadu’s first private fixed line service provider, has announced the launch of its services in Meenambakkam and adjoining areas in Chennai.

Bharti also announced that the customer-base of Touchtel in Tamil Nadu has crossed the 80,000 mark within 18 months of its launch, and expects to touch the one-lakh mark by this year-end. 

Speaking on the occasion, K Krishnan, CEO, Basic Services, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, said on September 5, "Our ability to provide end-to-end telecommunication solutions, customising the needs of the customers, both corporate and residential, has stood us in good stead. This is further strengthened by our focus on superior customer service. The achievement in a record time of 18 months, reiterates our commitment to make telecommunications a way of life.”

Touchtel commissioned its 76th Switching Unit at Meenambakkam to extend the coverage upto Tambaram. These Switching Units cover a radius of two kilometres. At present, Bharti has a copper cable network of 935 km and optic fibre network stretching over 710 kms in the Tamil Nadu circle. 

It recently extended Touchtel services to West Mambalam, Ashok Nagar, K K Nagar, Nanganallur, Madipakkam, Ambattur, and now Meenambakkam.
