The two-day event will take place at Ispahani Centre, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Nungambakkam, on February 21st and 22nd, from 1100 hrs to 2100 hrs daily.
The Singapore Tourism Board has planned activities and entertainment for the entire family. The 12-member troupe from Hong Sheng Koon Chinese Koontow & Lion Dance Society is specially flown in from Singapore to perform the famous Southern lion dance - with a unique blend of traditional moves and acrobatic displays to thrill to the audience. This troupe will perform at regular intervals in the atrium of the Ispahani Centre. Nirmala Seshadri, a well-known Bharatanatyam dancer from Singapore will conduct cross-cultural dance workshops. She has to her credit - a unique, solo performance to the music of a 70-member Singapore Chinese Crchestra in Singapore - a performance juxtaposing Bharat Natyam with Chinese orchestral music.
Additionally, there are on-the-spot quiz and contests with prizes to be won from Bounce, Hidesign, Indigo Nation, Lladro, Marrybrown, Oyzterbay, Ritu Kumar, Sweet Chariot and the Singapore Tourism Board. For those who want the 'real' Singapore experience, there are special offers to avail of, with irresistible travel packages on Air India, Indian Airlines and Singapore Airlines. Furthermore, Taj Coromandel Hotel and Singapore Tourism Board will be organising a 'Taste Singapore' food promotion from February 20 to 29, 2004, featuring favourite Singapore dishes like Chilli Crab and Laksa noodles.
