Photos Page

Remember the wind in your face? The adrenaline pumping? The sensation of freedom? Remember the innocent joy of tearing through the neighbourhood on furiously pedaled wheels? Ever wanted to re-live all those magical childhood moments? Now you have a chance...

TI Cycles, India's leading cycle manufacturer is hosting the first-ever BSA Cycle Run 2004, to be held Sunday, April 18. The event will see participation of more than 1,500 residents of Chennai. The event flags off from Island grounds at 7 a.m.

The Cycle Run aims to promote cycling as a fun-ruled activity of the people as well as draw the attention of Chennai residents to cycling as a means to promote a clean environment. What makes this event even more special is that it is planned as a tribute to the Chennai Police for keeping the city safe. The BSA Cycle Run 2004 is also supported by the Cycling Federation of India. J S Grewal, secretary-general, Cycling Federation of India, will be present Sunday to oversee the entire Cycle Run.

The legendary cricket icon of India, Kapil Dev will flag off the Cycle Run. The event will also have many well-known personalities from the sports, film and TV world participating. It includes Ruby Bhatia, actress Namrata Shirodkar, popular TV personality Aman Verma and Mrs World Aditi Govitrikar all coming together for a common cause.

The Cycle Run will start from Island Grounds and go through the War Memorial, along the Marina Beach, the Light House, over the Adyar Bridge, along the Theosophical Gardens to reach Elliots Beach. The Velankanni Church marks the half-way stage, where the cyclists will turn back to return on the same route. The route covers a distance of 24 km with free exits at any point of time.

Water stations and check-points with first-aid boxes are planned to be set up along the course of the entire cycle run. Adequate security and safety arrangements are being made to ensure that the participants have a safe and enjoyable ride.

The company has planned distribution of free memorabilia for the first thousand participants. It is also ensuring that the first 750 participants (on a first-come-first-served basis) are provided with a cycle for the run.
