Ram said, "Books are welcome at every nook and corner of the city. I'm delighted to be here to do the honours. I wish the Corner Bookstore great success.”
Aalok Wadhwa, CEG, Corner Bookstore Company Pvt Ltd, said, "The Corner Bookstore is a reflection of how we aspire to live our lives. It provides relief in a calming experience, one that encourages us to slow down and browse for hours in a traditional neighbourhood bookstore - where one-on-one customer service is paramount. We intend to offer the same core values to our patrons in Chennai, at this store and with the many other stores we plan to open in the city."
With 14 stores in 7 cities, and plans for 12 more bookstores by September 2004, in cities such as Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chandigarh and Mysore in the making, the Corner Bookstore is fast emerging as India's truly national bookstore chain. Simultaneously, the second Corner Bookstore opens at the T Nagar Barista on G N Chetty Road. What adds to the experience is the spanking new look of the two Barista outlets at K N K Road and T Nagar, with marked changes in the signage, seating arrangements (comfort and normal seating), and new in-store collaterals which provide a more contemporary and youthful ambience to the store. Commenting on Barista’s association with Corner Book Store, Brotin Banerjee, head - marketing & strategy, Barista Coffee Company, said, "Barista is delighted to be able to bring to its patrons a bookstore that enhances the value of a consumer visit to the Barista outlet. There is a synergy between coffee and books and many of our patrons have been requesting for a book cafe for some time now. We see a huge potential for growth in the southern markets. The launch of Barista new look is in line with our constant endeavor to continuously provide a refreshed look and feel to our outlets."
