CIOSA members receive grant from Tamil Maiyam

Thirteen CIOSA members received grant of Rs 8.50 lakh from Tamil Maiyam out of the surplus money that was received as donations during Chennai Sangamam that took place during the month of February 2007. The 13 NGOs selected work for the welfare of poor, street children and disabled children.

DMK MP and Tamil poet Kanimozhi handed over the cheques to the NGOs on behalf of Tamil Maiyam. Fr Jegath Gaspar Raj, founder of Tamil Maiyam, was also present.

Launched in October 2003, CIOSA serves as the facilitative platform, where NGOs, companies and individuals with social concerns come together for mutual learning, sharing and the collective espousal of social causes. CIOSA's multi-directional, cross-sectoral character is quite unique amongst similar efforts at networking development sector stakeholders in India. CIOSA builds such partnerships through the website, magazine and regular meetings.
